Café‑Style Banana Cream (At‑Home Edition)

There are some flavors that just feel like home, and banana cream is one of them. At the café, it’s become a quiet favorite — layered into iced lattes, whisked into matcha, and even enjoyed on its own. It’s smooth, lightly sweet, and comforting in that nostalgic, cozy way only banana can be.

So today we’re sharing something special: the At‑Home Edition of our café‑style banana cream. It’s simple, fun, and a lovely way to bring a little Rove + Dwell comfort into your kitchen.

Banana Cream Recipe

MEASURE & PREPARE
  • 2 ripe bananas

  • 1 ½ cups whole milk

  • 1 cup half & half

  • 3 Tbsp pure maple syrup (or honey)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of sea salt

  • 1 Tbsp cornstarch

METHOD

1. Blend it all together
Add bananas, milk, half & half, maple syrup, vanilla, and sea salt to a blender. Blend until smooth.

2. Heat gently
Pour mixture into a saucepan. Whisk in cornstarch until dissolved. Warm over medium heat, stirring often, until steaming and slightly thickened. Do not boil.

3. Strain (optional)
For a smoother finish, pour through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl or jar.

4. Cool & store
Let cool, then cover and refrigerate. Shake before using.

Use: Stir 2–3 tablespoons into lattes, iced coffees, or matcha. Best within 2–3 days.

Fun Ways to Use Banana Cream

  • Iced Banana Cream Latte: Brew espresso over ice, add milk, then top with banana cream.

  • Banana Cream Matcha: Pour your whisked matcha over ice, swirl in banana cream, and enjoy.

  • Banana Cream Cupcakes: Replace part of the milk in your cupcake batter with banana cream for a soft, velvety twist.

  • Cookie Upgrade: Add a few spoonfuls to sugar cookie or shortbread dough for gentle banana sweetness.

  • Dessert Drizzle: Pour over pancakes, waffles, or pound cake for an easy treat.
